LAKE ARIEL, PA--(Korea Newswire)--Dr. Midori Yamanouchi has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Yamanouchi prepared for her career in academia by building a strong foundation based on an equally strong education. She began with a diploma, earned from Tokyo Kasai University in 1948, and quickly progressed to a bachelor’s degree, earned from the Sophie University International Division, a Master of Arts, and a PhD earned from Michigan State University, and a Master of Arts in library sciences, earned from the University of Michigan in 1959.

Dr. Yamanouchi took on a number of roles related to education and libraries, beginning with her work as a chief research associate for the International Division of Sophia University in 1952. She has extensive experience working in the libraries of Michigan State University. She then assumed a teaching role, serving as an associate professor of sociology and anthropology at Marshall University and Fisk University. Dr. Yamanouchi’s lengthiest term as a professor occurred at the University of Scranton, where she served from 1975 until 2006. After that point, she spent two years as the vice president of academy affairs at Lackawanna College before retiring.

In recognition of her hard work and dedication, Dr. Yamanouchi has been honored with a number of awards and accolades, including her receiving an honorary professor recognition at Karaganda Economic University in Kazakhistan in 2009. She has also received the David Gray Award and a Presidential Medallion from Keystone College, a UN Day Rinaldi Memorial Award from the UN Association USA NE Pennsylvania in 2007, an educational service award from the Wilkes Barre Board of Education and a Seeley Service Medal from Lackawanna College.
