With 37 years of professional experience, Dr. Yong-Hoon Chung has been president and chief executive officer of MedExGen, Inc., since 2000 and a professor of medical microbiology and immunology at the Hanyang University College of Medicine since 1986. In addition to his primary roles, he served as a board member with the Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnology from 1993 to 2006, chair of the department of microbiology at Hanyang University from 1998 to 2004, board director at Boryung Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. from 1997 to 2000, and director general of the Korean Association of Immunologists from 1994 to 1997.

A leading voice in the industry, Dr. Yong-Hoon Chung has held a Medical Doctor degree since 1982 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree since 1988 from Hanyang University. He has been an active member of his community and has been affiliated with the Review Committee of Science and Technology.

Since 1997 his research has focused on various innovative platform technologies on developments for better biological therapeutics. These are enabling to provide unmet needs of current biologics on both the patient and industry side. He holds patents for methods of increasing efficacy and potency of cytokines and immunoadhesins and glycosylation modifications on immunoglobulin types of drugs, as well as several pending patents in the field. Recently he added highly metallated botulinum neurotoxin with beneficial therapeutic features to his list of inventions.

Throughout his career, Dr. Chung has been recognized for his contributions, including having been named Doctor of the Year by Hanil General Hospital. A grantee of the Korean government, he was the recipient of a Gochon Medical Scholarship from Chong-Keun Dang Pharmaceutical Company. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including the first edition of Who’s Who in Asia and the 25th edition of Who’s Who in the World.
